DENS_UP

Thickening powder with modified corn starch, neutral flavour, specifically studied for thickening both hot and cold liquid and semi-liquid foods.

DENS_UP is a food for special medical purposes in powder form suitable for the dietary management of patients with difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia) or difficulty in chewing who require a diet of an appropriately modified consistency. DENS_UP is suitable for thickening beverages and semi-liquid foods, facilitating acceptance and use by patients.

Dosage is according to patient and is to be defined by the attending practitioner on the basis of the patient’s various requirements, the desired consistency and the chemical and physical characteristics of the food or beverage to be thickened, such as temperature, acidity and viscosity. Indicative doses for 100 ml of water or watery liquid at room temperature and neutral pH, in order to obtain the consistency of:
Nectar: 1 measuring scoop (approx. 3.5 g)
Custard: 1.5 measuring scoops (approx. 5.2 g)
Pudding: 2 measuring scoops (approx. 7 g)

Pour a little powder evenly over the aliment (beverage, semi-liquid or purée aliment) to be thickened, mixing thoroughly with a fork until completely dissolved. The thickening effect takes a couple of minutes. Check the resulting consistency, if necessary, adding more powder and mixing again. Repeat until the desired consistency has been obtained. Alternatively, a shaker can be used.

The product must be used according to instructions and under medical supervision. The product is not suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition and must not be injected. Do not use for children under the age of 3.

Keep in a cool, dry place. Avoid exposure to direct heat sources and sunlight. The date of minimum durability refers to the product stored appropriately in an unopened package. Ensure the jar is properly closed after use. Consume within 8 weeks of opening. Dispose of correctly.
